S.A. Cosby

4.16 AVERAGE

Yes, it was just as good as literally everyone else said it was. Took me a while to read my first S.A. Cosby book, but it will certainly not be the last. A powerful story from multiple angles, this book had twists and turns that I did not see coming, all while ripping my heart out. The writing and character work are the standouts while reading this one. Also, the narrator of the audiobook did a fantastic job. Ike and Buddy Lee were both flawed characters who grew in tremendous ways over the course of the novel. I never wanted to stop listening to this one, as they were on a war path to discover what happened to their sons. I cannot wait to read more of this author's work in the future.

Didn’t love it or hate it. Just kinda meh. Too late while for me to get into it. It was slow and boring. I liked that duo of daddy’s to stick up for their kids even when they weren’t good dads until after their death.

This book felt like Sons of Anarchy from the perspective of the ones left in the wake of the Sons destruction. Violence and revenge driven, our main characters are forced to confront their own biases when it comes to topics like racism and the sexuality of their sons. S.A. Cosby does a great job of taking us through believable character arcs, where at the beginning of the book you feel that the fathers are pieces of shit, only to learn from their mistakes and realize their prejudices.

The book is fast paced and action packed, once the fighting starts it never lets up. The ending tied up a little too neatly, but overall a great read.
