Cute, sweet short stories in the author's usual relatable prose. Definitely romance focused (very PG).
My heart is so happy and warm after reading this collection of short stories. This is Rainbow Rowell at her finest, especially the last entry in the book ‘In Waiting’. A personal favourite of mine is ‘Winter Songs for Summer’.

I love Rainbow Rowell’s writing, and this book is no exception. It’s fun to read a bunch of short stories, some of which are about characters you may already know from other books. A lot of the settings and worlds are modern and simple, but there’s also some fantasy and abstract settings that I really liked (those were probably my favorite stories). I especially liked the one that was set during Covid. The main criticism of these stories seems to be that they’re all very similar - boy meets girl (or boy already knows girl), they don’t like each other, eventual kiss. I didn’t love this, but it didn’t alter my overall enjoyment of the book. I do think overall Rowell’s full length stories are better, Fangirl is my current favorite if you’d like a recommendation.
My first time reading Rainbow Rowell probably being I am not the YA target audience. I don’t love fantasy so those two related stories weren’t my fave but the rest I really enjoyed. Especially In Waiting - I’ll need to re read it again tomorrow to confirm but probably my favourite short story of all time? Defs a 5/5 on its own merit, so original and beautifully crafted. Who knew a short story could be so rich with depth?! I adored it.

i think i got a little mislead when i bought this book
i was so sure that the short stories would talk about every form of love there is and in a way it does, some stories talk about the love you have for your family, others for your friends but the structure of these stories is always the same : girl meets boy, boy and girl become friends, boy and girl kiss
and while this structure works and is sweet well after 2 stories i wanted to see more
so i dont really think this is the author's fauot but mine as i was expecting a lot more
its still nice but it gets redundant
