“We keep surviving.”
I wish there was more because it truly leaves off at a very good and interesting jumping off point.

That was a lot darker than I expected from Marvel. I'm not sure what else to say about it, other than expect a lot of blood and grit, a deeper look at the dark places Marvel is usually reluctant to go.

This is a lot darker than most of the other comics I've read so far, especially as far as superheroes go. It kind of also felt a lot more grounded even though some of the characters have pretty crazy powers. Even though Laura Kinney (X-23) is on the cover of this collection she clearly is not the main character of the series, she actually does not even show up in the second half for some reason. Kiden and her friends have to deal with a lot of terrible stuff and this comic is very obviously not meant for younger readers but even though I usually prefer kind of lighter, funnier stories I still quite enjoyed this one, the first half more so than the second. The characters were really interesting and I liked that it dealt with the fact that being a mutant can be really dangerous in this world... Still I also had some issues with it, for example some of the mature content just did not seem necessary and it kind of got quite confusing in the second half. I also preferred the art from the first series to the second one.

It ends very abruptly. Still, excellent characters and writing though. Good nostalgia for the decade previous to this review.
