I believe this book could appeal to a young crowd and an older crowd alike. I wouldn't define it as YA, more of a coming of age story of a young woman.
I found it easy to get into the story after the first twenty pages or so, and the plot was so fast paced. It was unpredictable and it made me want to turn the pages to find out what would happen next. I enjoyed the world as well and found it original.
I loved all the characters and I found everyone has a distinguishable personality. Ophelia is an ordinary woman who believes she passes unobserved, but she isn't. She may look weak but she is very strong and I liked how she solved some situations. And yay for more curly haired characters in books!!! I've seen some fan arts and her hair look like mine when it's longer lmao. Thorn was also interesting. He reminded me of a Gothic hero from a Victorian novel and his interactions with Ophelia are gold because he is a hard nut to crack (and so is she) so you're left to wonder about him and his real feelings a lot.
I will surely read the rest of the books!

I shan't be continuing with the series as I was more entranced with the prose and world building than the plot. It was fine, and the type of book that scratched my nostalgic itch for cheesy ya in the same vein as twilight and others. I don't see myself ever returning to it

Histoire très divertissante et on se fond vraiment dans le monde. Par contre, il y a un manque flagrant de diversité au niveau des personnages - il ne semble qu’y avoir des personnages à la peau blanche et il n’y a aucune mention de personnages queer. Pour un livre ayant été écrit en 2013 je m’attendais à mieux à ce niveau-là.
