Ophelia is being married off to Thorne a man from the far north, a hostile and violent land. They will marry at the end of the summer and combine their abilities. But to even get to that point will require a level of scheming that Ophelia wasn’t prepared for. I’m not really vibing with this magic system and the characters seem cruel just to be cruel with no intentional story to back that up. The pacing was good and the writing is fine for this to come out in 2013. Hopefully the next book is better because this was a long book of pre events.
