The Earth-side have-nots toil away for the needs of the 1% living luscious lives in sky cities. When a shipment goes missing via air pirates, whizbang mechanic Vega Hasher, aka Fixit, is forced to deliver replacements or face punitive actions. This Sci-Fi morsel, narrated by frequent Erik Schubach audiobook collaborator Hollie Jackson, immerses readers in the world of Tau Ceti Prime, though leaves listeners feeling as if they stopped up against the edge of a cliff. Think of the Fixit series as serialized adventures starring the resourceful and mechanically adept Fixit: Where will our heroine end up next? Will she find love with the statuesque member of the sky guard? Additional characters in this novelette production include her A.I./semi-sentient robotic companions (which she much prefers to people) and the snooty steward. Schubach also includes fun exclamatory expressions, like "boot waffle".

Oh! What to say about this book?

Well, first of I didn't think I'd like it.
I started reading it, and was bored withing pages.
There's a lot of infodumping and worldbuilding - like 3 chapters of it, and this book is only 6 chapters long.
This was too much.
I think the only reason I read it all the way through was because of the short lenght of it.

It is OK written, but I found some writing mistakes.

Other than that I don't think there's much to say.
It was a fast enough read, when I got past the infodumping in the beginning.
There was a small actionpart that I liked, and I was surprised about the love interest!

Writing was good. Somewhat humorous. But overall, I was mostly bored. I put down my Kindle a number of times as I lost interest. Since it's a fairly short story, it should have been easy to read in a single sitting.

I knew it was gonna be good

I don't remember when I added this to my wish list but I really wanted to read it. It's a tease for sure but I love it. Can't wait to be able to get the next one.

This was a short, fun steampunk style read that overall I enjoyed. There were quite a few copyediting errors (typos, missing punctuation, etc) and sometimes the main character's voice was a bit unbelievable but the worldbuilding was neat and the robot characters were fun.

Cute characters and story. Would have been a 5 star if it were longer but damn it was super short. I'm not used to reading such short stories, but I liked the premise and wanted to give it a try. I liked it, it was quite enjoyable and I really like Fixit and Vashon.

I've often seen this author's works on Audible, and they all have interesting premises, so I decided to grab one in a recent sale. Fixit is a cute and fun story, and I'll definitely read this author again.

It's sci-fi set on a human colony on another planet, but because it focuses on a mechanic, it feels more like steampunk. The first-person PoV is breezy and personal, as though the character is talking to you directly. This works really well in an audiobook, and I liked the narrator, Hollie Jackson. There are a lot of errors in the writing, like tense shifts, so I would recommend listening to the audiobook over reading the text. It's a complete story, with decent character development of Fixit as well as a plot, although it's obviously the introduction to a series; the romance just barely gets started.

Fixit is an innocent young woman, who has spent her whole life working on a farm below an opulent city, although she has never been there. Her only friends are her sentient robots, who are all kind of falling apart and have adorable personalities. This story focuses on Fixit delivering some goods to the city, and she meets her love interest along the way. The love interest feels like a superhero, and it's easy to understand why she impresses Fixit so much.

Overall I liked it and will pick up book two at some point.
