I love these stories with the Padawans
This was a great read! Love the characters development as well as seeing the transition from characters in the comics to middle school ages.

A wonderful companion piece to The Rising Storm. Very glad I found it. Lula and Ram’s problems feel at once very middle school and also very Jedi. Can’t wait to see where everyone goes from here. Only took a star off cause the overlap scenes feels out of sync with what happened in the “Adult” book. In reality, that is probably only worth like a half or quarter of a star. So, this is like 4.75/4.5.

Race to Crashpoint is a thrilling, fast-paced read.
The story follows Ram Joraram and Lula Talisola, two Jedi Padawans.
The Nihil has just struck against the Republic Fair on Valo and it's communications tower, leaving it up to Ram, Lula, Ram's faithful and snarky droid, V-18, and a Force-sensitive friend, Zeen, to fix it.
Even though it was a very short read compared to the last Middle-Grade High Republic novel (only 199 pages), it didn't feel rushed in anyway except for the purposely fast narrative. I enjoyed it and quickly grew to like the characters. It was also fun to see characters like Vernestra and Ty again. I hope to see more of Lula, Ram, and Zeen in the future.
5/5 stars

Ok, this book is a delight. I didn’t expect to love it as much as I did as Midnight Horizon (by the same author) isn’t among my most favorite THR books. Ram and Lula make excellent main characters here, and the tie ins to Phase 2 are top notch. I initially didn’t read this as it is a junior grade reader, but on my The High Republic reread started reading this to my kiddo and liked it so much I finished it without him. This book takes place during The Rising Storm and ties in perfectly, giving a great glimpse into other characters’ perspectives and actions during the tragic attacks on Valo. Plus, there’s a brief appearance from Vernestra Rowh, an easy series favorite, so how can I not love this. It was great to see how Ram got to where we see him in THR and where he goes from that point.
I read this a second time, and still love it. Ram, Lula, and Zeen have really grown on me, and I treasure reading about them.
