Such a fun little adventure! This story is set during the Nihil's attack on the Valo Republic Fair, which was certainly a treat, but I also found myself wishing that it was set anywhere else. As dire as this battle has been treated everywhere else that I've read, the plucky, fun tone of this story (though fantastically realized by Older) felt incongruous.
Still! Very fun! I liked it a lot!

Audiobooks are hit and miss with me I think. After listening to a few non fiction books I tried out this as my first fiction audiobook and I think for me non fiction will be the way to go. There's nothing wrong with this book specifically it's just how I listen that made it trickier and I'm glad this was a Middle grade novel so that I didn't have to be paying 100% attention at all times to still follow the story closely enough.
As for the story itself this was a good return to some phase 1 events before I launch in Phase 3 soon. The characters are familiar to me for the most part from the High Republic Adventure comics and I do look forward to reading ebook/physical copies of the other Middle grade High Republic entries as I go full completionist for the High Republic content.

Ram and his crew are fun characters. The other characters are just there. Didn't like this one as much as the first middle reader, A Test of Courage.
Pretty good. Don’t really care for a certain character but Vernestra’s presence in the book definitely made up for it.
This was definitely a very fun read if you love expanding on the Star Wars universe and it was a compelling continuation of the High Republic novels! I enjoyed seeing some familiar characters and exploring more into this era of the Jedi Order on a new planet. Although this junior novel was not my favorite in the series, The High Republic novels are well-worth the read if you’re a Star Wars geek like me
