This was a great sequel back into the world of The Booksellers (and Susan). Audiobook also stellar.
Nix hits it out of the park again with this second installment of the Left-handed Booksellers of London series. This time the booksellers face an ancient and stony foe. Susan just wants to be a normal human, doing normal activities, but when she gets pulled back into the bookseller world, her own place in it comes into question. With derring-do, and fun exploits a plenty readers will enjoy the book. Recommended

I really enjoyed this series! The fantasy was unlike anything I’d read before, and I loved the world building and quirky characters. I didn’t understand many of the British and/or 1980s references, which confused me at times, but this didn’t prevent me from being able to follow and enjoy the story. I listened to the audiobook version and highly recommend it for people who enjoy audiobooks!

I loved this, hoping for more in this series but more than happy to wait.
A wonderful adventure, this time dealing with an unknown ancient entity and the lengths “people” will go to to keep family safe. We meet Susan and Merlin again, as well as some of the other booksellers, and we also meet a host of new characters.
This is the very best kind of storytelling, sheer escapism and beautiful descriptions. Totally magical.
My favourite thing is that it’s all set in the early 80s, so information is still very much held in private collections and not Google-able. There’s a real need for bookseller guardians, who know so much more about the supernatural perils that our beloved island faces.

Very fun and enjoyable. I really hope Nix writes more books set in this universe.
This was an entertaining sequel. I would have liked a little more character development and found the ending to be predictable, but I still love the world and would definitely read another.
