I loved it. I haven't read the first book but this can be read as a stand alone. An exciting, hold on to your hat story. It was an audio book, which added to the magic. A brilliant storyx x

I got extremely sick of Susan saying, out loud, to everyone 'but I just wanna be normal', but enjoyed basically every other aspect of this one. Vivien better get her own book one day though. I wanna see this world from someone willing participating in it next.
Really liked the first book and Garth Nix in general but this one was such a slog for me. I just couldn't get into it. I finally managed to get to the end but not without a lot of pain and heartache which is not my usual Nix experience.

A cute book that I read by virtue of having read the 1st book in the series. Not too bad but it failed to absorb me fully for some reason hence the low rating. Would say this would be good reading for the older teen / YA set.
