I really like the setting and vibes of this book, all the 80s punk elements are excellent. I also like the whole booksellers/old world stuff, very cool. I just dislike susan immensely. She's so annoying with her

i enjoyed this even more than i liked the first novel, they're good fun and i especially like the style of urban fantasy and bookseller-focused powers. i think this series has a lot of potential to grow.

susan, merlin and vivian are all super characters. this is really good fun and also very well written.

read this via the audiobook which was really digestible.

A fantastic follow up to the first book!

I just adore this series! The second installment is even more action-packed than the first, and the characters are richly drawn, because Nix doesn’t need to spend as much time place-setting and rule-establishing. It still has a madcap feel, although there is a darker and more thoughtful vibe to this one.

Unfortunately kind of boring. Some of the most important and interesting scenes were cut off and/or faded to black, and more time was spent on what people were wearing or discussing than actual action or emotion. Ugh the worldbuilding is so cool though!
