Jester is my favorite character from the Critical Role campaigns. So, when this origin book was released, I just had to get it. I loved the exploration into Jester’s background story. This was a quick story into how Jester was raised being the daughter of the Ruby of the Sea, how she met the Traveller, and how she made it up to the point of going off on her own adventure which led her to meet the rest of the members of the Mighty Nein.
Super cute origin story, great art. It's a little short and I'm not certain that it's for people outside of the Critical Role fandom, but I enjoyed it!

Adorable art with a surprisingly self-contained story. Jester’s voice comes through well as does Marian’s. Love the character designs!!!

Kid Jester was absolutely adorable, and it was fun seeing the beginning of her relationship with The Traveler and more of her relationship with her mom.

It's okay, and the art is nice, but it's very simple and doesn't get into much depth. I didn't feel Jester's character came across quite the way she was roleplayed, not quite the same cheerful no-filter cluelessness, and though Jester in the roleplay mentioned she's never seen the Traveler without his hood up, he spends most of his on-page time unhooded, taking away much of his air of mystery (if you didn't already know about him, you'd think he was just some elf or fey guy).
Overall (disappointingly enough) unremarkable. I would give the other Origins stories a look to see if they're any better.

Very quick read! Super detailed artwork helps the flow of the book. Long time fans of critical role will notice more than one Easter egg too!
