I don’t rate memoirs and sometimes I even find it hard to review them because it’s someone’s life and who they are! I enjoyed parts of this, and other parts I felt were unnecessary. But I love Queer Eye and getting to “know” the experts more as people through memoirs is a treat! But what I love most of all is celebrating people being who they are and recognizing their value and worth just as they are, and that’s a lot of what Tan’s book is ❤️

The audiobook is outstanding. Tan reads the book himself, and it definitely adds so much to the story. There is also an appearance by Antoni.
For the story, Tan is very open and upfront on what it means to be South Asian and in the entertainment and fashion industry. He does bring humour to it, but he is also very blunt, especially when talking about traveling whilst brown. This is a must listen!

I listened to the audiobook, and I recommend that over reading it. There were some extras in the audiobook version. I enjoyed listening to this memoir, it was entertaining. I rarely rate memoirs greater than 3 stars, I liked this one, but it didn't blow me away.

Stayed up til after midnight reading this. The book was written in a fun, light-hearted and witty manner, that it was easy for me to flip through the pages. It was unputdownable and with every page I was able to glimpse into Tan France's life pre- and post- Queer Eye. Some experiences were tough, some were happy. Tan touched on several issues, such as race and sexuality, how the color of his skin affected how he was treated as he grew up in the UK, how he knew from a young age that he was gay. The story of how he met his husband was also told in this book, and I think it's a sweet one bound to make your heart flutter! How he got into fashion, and of course Queer Eye, were also shared in this heartwarming (and relatable!) story.

I knew this book was going to be good, but it turns out to be much better. I would highly recommend it!
