Finally allowing herself to fall in love, Kathryn Hu discovers that her too-good-to-be-true boyfriend is not all he seems - he has more women in his life. Angry and hurt, the women bond together and plan revenge. However, funny pranks shockingly turn into murder accusations! Who killed Tucker Jones? How dirty was he? Add in a war with a true crime podcast, and hijinks ensue.

A hilarious cozy mystery novel about revenge and the power of friendship: Chao wrote a story that is fun and filled with HEAs for the ladies - a take on 'John Tucker Must Die' movie but aged up, and with actual murder instead of social suicide. The podcast subplot is the weaker side of the book, but the ending does tie up why it was necessary.

According to Goodreads, a sequel is planned, and I'm eager to see what the ladies get up to next!

This was such a fun ride! The Ex-Girlfriend Murder Club blends cozy mystery vibes with sharp humor and a lot of heart. I loved the unlikely friendship between Kathryn, Olivia, and Elle—their banter and chemistry kept me entertained the whole way through.

The mystery itself was well-paced with plenty of red herrings, and the premise (three exes of the same guy finding him dead in his closet!) was as wild and entertaining as it sounds. It also sneakily touches on deeper themes like betrayal, female solidarity, and how true crime is consumed.

Overall, this was a clever, fast-paced, and thoroughly enjoyable read. Gloria Chao brings a fresh voice to the mystery genre, and I’d happily pick up another book with this kind of energy. Highly recommended if you’re looking for something smart, funny, and just a little bit deadly.
