a 3.5⭐️ read that gets rounded up 0.25 due to the twist ending doing the one thing I thought surely couldn't be true
the Finlay Donovon-esque vibe to the story was fun (and I'm a big sucker for that type of plot) but the characters weren't as fun as that series for me. Kat was almost too awkward at times, and our obligatory Hot Cop was a little too stern/closed off for me. I did like Olivia a lot though, and Elle was... interesting. the mystery was simple, and I was ultimately half surprised by it --I was convinced it was Olivia the whole time, but thought surely the author wasn't going to have one of her girlies be the murderer!! loved that it was Elle, and that we got the explanation from her in the epilogue . I didn't really care for the whole podcast element, I get it tied into the pranks, but otherwise it was kinda bizarre and didn't really tie into the whole story. Would maybe pick up another one if this became a series!

Man, this was a slough for me. I didn’t find the characters endearing at all and the “ pranks” were just gross. I couldn’t wait to get this one over with.

I hardly ever rewrite a review, but I'm doing it here. This series has great promoise- the main character is intriguing and has a lot of room for development from work, family dynamics and romantic interests but this book was not my favorite.
Because of one character and their actions (smearing poop around, rubbing someone's toothbrush on hee butt, peeing into their mouthwash), I was pretty turned off by her crassness. By the end of the book I understand why she was the way she was but I spent 95% of the book just plain old not liking her- like an annoying co-worker who's always around. I assume she will not follow us into book two so I will be watching for that release!
