Kathryn Hu is a chemist at Harvard and has the seemingly perfect relationship. Until she finds her boyfriend proposing to his long term girlfriend. And they both find him with a Tinder fling at their AirBnB. All three of them plan to prank Tucker which goes sideways when they find him dead in his apartment. Now they have a hot detective and a nosy podcaster on their tail as they race to find the killer before they go down for his murder.

This book is The Other Woman as a fast paced murder mystery. It was hilarious and I loved the bond between all of them. They explored what it meant for them to be betrayed and trying to move on from their traumas together, or as my friend would say “bitch bond”. This is interwoven with their investigation into the boyfriend’s life, leaving them wondering if any of them knew him at all. Absolutely loved the ending and the twists.

Cute for what it is. Had to suspend belief a little because everyone is so dumb. But I forced myself not to take it too seriously and ended up enjoying it.

If quirky, cozy, and utterly ridiculous are words you use to describe the mysteries you enjoy, then this one is for you.  This one was off-the-wall and had me laughing out loud.  The characters were so fun, and I didn't see the twist coming.  The added elements of the main character's parents and podcast excerpts just helped add to the fun.
At first, I thought the narrator sounded a bit young for this character, but as the book went along I got used to it and thought she did a wonderful job.
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for the ARC.

I had such a fun time reading The Ex-Girlfriends Murder Club! It gave me total John Tucker Must Die vibes - except with a twisty murder mystery thrown in. The premise hooked me right away: three women find out they’ve all been dating the same guy, and then he turns up dead… and they have to work together to prove they had nothing to do with it.

I really loved the dynamic between the three women. Each had such a distinct personality, and their banter made me laugh out loud more than once! It was entertaining from start to finish, and I found myself flying through it because I needed to know how it ended.

That said, I do have a couple of little things I wish were different. The name “Tucker Jones” threw me off in the beginning because it made me think of John Tucker Must Die on repeat - maybe a different name would’ve helped it stand apart more. Also, while the malaphors were fun at first, by the end they felt a little overdone. And there were a few moments where the language felt a bit too juvenile for me (like the use of “doo-doo”), which pulled me out of the story a bit. Oh, and the podcast element felt kind of random—it didn’t really click with the rest of the story for me.

But overall, this was a really fun, light read with a great mix of humor, mystery, and friendship. If you’re looking for something that feels like a playful murder mystery, definitely check this one out!
