This was a funny one with depth. Kathryn Hu is a perfect (imperfect) heroine, quick with observations, very real human feelings and insecurities, and smart. She so desperately wants love. And friendship. I had some anxiety around the fact that everything was going so very wrong for everyone in funny, absurd ways. I really liked the friendship between the women too. I also loved the ending--I didn't see it coming!

This mystery/comedy shares the story of three slighted girls who were being cheated on by the same guy and tells the tale of their investigation into his murder after being put in some compromising positions. I found the book hilarious, and it had me waiting at each twist and turn for the final reveal. The narration fit the voice of the main character well, and I thought it was great to see how each of the girls responded to the situation.
I didn't see the twist coming, and even once the wife was revealed, I still had no idea who it could be. I think I felt a little confused at the reveal, because I still didn't quite understand the motivation for helping them investigate. I also thought that the issue with Tucker's debt never really resolved despite it being a big part of the investigation.
I enjoyed the writing, though there were a few awkward moments that just screamed "millennial" at me and felt a little cringey ("awkward turtle"). I also enjoyed seeing the flaws of the main character, and how each of them found out a little bit about themselves through the process. All in all, it was a light and funny read that drew me in.
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for the audio copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed this read! I found myself completely immersed in this book. Each character was thought out and written beautifully, to the point I REALLY disliked a couple of them. A true gem! 💎 can’t wait for more!

This was very cute and I enjoyed the dynamic between the three women as they try to find who killed Tucker, the sleazy jackass who cheated on them all. We're introduced to Katherine Hu, who walks into her boyfriend proposing . . . to someone else. The someone else is Olivia, who ends up meeting up with Kat and they decide to go to the getaway Kat and Tucker had planned on - only to find him there with someone ELSE.
The three women decide to play nasty pranks on Tucker and go to his condo, and find him there. Dead. Now their DNA is all over and there's a mean girl podcaster determined to frame them for the murder, so the women better find who was behind it!
I guessed the twist, but that didn't mess with my enjoyment of the book. It was a brisk-paced mystery with lots of humor and I think I'll be following Katherine's adventures in the next book.

The „why her and not me“ pissed me off so much that I couldn’t even focus on the plot.
