I enjoyed this book more than I thought at the beginning. I became invested in both letter writer’s journeys and stories.

This is the story of two lonely people at midlife- a widower who works at a museum in Denmark, and a farm wife with grown children who lives in England. A chance experience leads to a long, detailed correspondence between the two. Meet Me at the Museum is that correspondence. I think the reason I didn’t enjoy this book more was mainly a case of timing- the protagonists are reserved, careful people, slowly revealing themselves and their lives to each other. And at the time I picked it up, I just wasn’t in the mood for a slow, thoughtful, carefully constructed story. It was good enough to press on to the end, but I skimmed quite a bit. Unlike some of the other reviewers, though, I really liked the ending. Can’t say more than that without spoiling.

A slow burn, I gradually became found of the two main characters and looked forward to reading their reflections and observations.
