I gave this one a 3 because I really enjoyed it. I wanted to know what happened to the characters and see how their journeys played out. However, I was pretty annoyed by the miscommunication trope, as most of us are. I find Ali Hazelwood's FMCs both so relatable and so frustrating. The side characters though, I always ADORE, the book boyfriends too. I swear this isn't internalized misogyny, I think it's that I want what's best for the FMC and she often gets in her own way.

I did read this right after finishing up Iron Flame so it could have just been lost in the shadow of my last read and not hit me in the same way I wanted it to. It was a fun romance book with fun characters and side stories so I would recommend it's just nothing that touched me or made me super excited.

I had heard very mixed things about this book so wasn't really expecting to like it but I really did. I really loved the academia setting. It's a very wholesome romcom with fake dating and grumpy sunshine tropes. As a PhD student I really related to the characters. It was just a really nice light-hearted book all round

This was a cute and funny romance. I liked the characters but would have preferred the protagonists to be peers instead of student/professor. It’s hard to not find the relationship inappropriate with that fact lingering.

It was also very PG -rated for 2/3 of the book then there was suddenly explicit pornography for 2 chapters then back to the normal rom-com. People that like erotic books would probably feel like there isn’t enough sex and people that don’t like that will not enjoy those chapters.

The book was easy to read and I enjoyed it overall.

Was not a fan. Tons of second hand embarrassment. It wasn’t as nerdy as I wish it could have been and so many of the scenes were needlessly long. I didn’t find it super entertaining but I did enjoy the setting.

This is my second Ali Hazelwood book and I'm just as pleased with this read as I was with the first one. It was a beautifully put together story, and though I'm really not keen on the misunderstanding trope, this was nicely done altogether.

I loved to see Olive fall in love with Adam, and how entirely patient Adam was for her, and how entirely sweet her friendship with Malcolm and Ahn was, and well, everything.

It was a great story, in a great setting, and as far as romances go, supremely sweet. Highly recommended.
