It feels weird to leave a star rating on a book about crippling addiction, so I won’t, but I do think this was worth the read. How heartbreaking to know how much Perry has struggled over the years. I hope he finds health and peace.

A deeply sad account of how addiction can take over someone's life. Matthew is honest and descriptive of how his alcoholism and drug dependence harmed his life and the people around him. I knew addiction is a disease, but his anecdotes and struggles made it abundantly clear how miserable and cyclical addiction is. It's extra poignant to hear Matthew's voice after his untimely passing.
