I bought this when it was released, but I wasn't an avid reader then and this obviously sat on my shelf for a few years.  I now believe the only way to read this is through audiobook.  Narrated by Matthew Perry himself.

While some of what he went through was out in the open, on tabloids and interviews, we really have no idea how much of a fighter Matthew was for most of his life.  It reminds me of Robin Williams, you truly have no idea what someone is going through just watching from the outside.  This also had me contemplating what Matthew's life would've been like without his celebrity status.  How many people are shunned and ignored as druggies and substance abusers, but the world is willing to bend over backwards for someone famous.    This is not at all any jab at Matthew, but a realization of the striking comparison and the ranking of importance society places on those in the exact same circumstances.

The most difficult part of this book is the ending.  He spent his whole life fighting against dying young.  We finally hear a brightness in his voice as he talks about his hope of a more meaningful future & the desire to have a family.

Matthew Perry passed away 3 days before the 1 year anniversary of this book being published.
