The instant love was a bit annoying, and the writing was a bit less exciting than the first book, but still an interesting background of mythology and politics so I shall continue on

What it's about: This book is a retelling of the Eros and Psyche myth from Greco-Roman mythology. In this retelling Eros is ordered to kill Psyche by his own mother, Aphrodite. Instead of killing Psyche, Eros and Psyche come to an agreement that results in their marriage. The marriage is agreed to so that Psyche is not killed and so that Eros will not be punished by his mother for disobeying her orders.
What I think: I really enjoyed this book more than the first one in the series, Neon Gods. This myth retelling more closely reflects the real Greek characters and the story in the original Greco-Roman myth. However, the gods and their offspring still have no supernatural abilities. Since this is a myth retelling it is weird to me that the gods are human. However, the story itself is entertaining. The banter between Eros and Psyche is cute and funny. I also enjoyed the self-love and body positivity message that Psyche’s character incorporated.

I really enjoyed this overall, even if I was screaming about the miscommunication trope for half of the book. Eros’s personality was like 80% him hating himself, but like… fair I guess. I loved Psyche as a character a ton, and I loved seeing characters from the last book in a new light. Definitely a good time.

I am so sad I skipped this one initially and read the other books in the series, because it's my FAVORITE (so far)! Once you realize it's not following the true myths it's great! I highly reccomend listening to 'Morally Grey' by April Jae it's PERFECT with this book!

Am I about to become addicted to Katee Robert books? I definitely think so after this one. Neon Gods was good, but Electric Idol was great! Can’t wait to get hooked on more
