I absolutely loved this book. I added it to my TBR after finally finishing Fuller House and rewatching Full House. I didn’t expect much but wow was this book everything I needed. I have severe anxiety and like Andrea I wasn’t diagnosed until I was an adult. Hearing someone talk about their experience, especially someone who played a character that I love, really helped with how I feel about my own diagnosis.

My takeaway from this book is that I think Andrea Barber and I would really get along! She seems really nice and she's had some struggles, but nothing so different from my own life. She does not spill too much tea about her costars. Perhaps that would have made the book more interesting, but it also doesn't seem like her personality, which if I could round up in one word, would be: Kind.

I cannot say enough about Andrea and how open and honest she was. As someone that battles mental health issues every single day, it was so good for me to read that I’m not alone. She opened up about the good, the bad and the ugly! I highly recommend reading Andreas book!

Downside of Dating, Book 2

I Picked Up This Book Because: To fill #BookspinBingo space I4.

Media Type: Audiobook
Source: Hoopla via HCPL
Dates Read: 2/26/24 - 2/27/24
Stars: 4 Stars
Narrator(s): Andrea Barber

The Story:

I should read memoirs from people my age more often. I always love seeing things I've lived through from a completely different view. It’s inspiring to see a work “family” be so close in real life. it is also so brave of Andrea to share her struggles with anxiety and depression the world.

The Random Thoughts:

I forced myself to turn this off last night for the sake of sleep only to discover there were only 20-30 minutes left in the book this morning. *facepalm*

Yep, that is correct. 5 stars... And not just because of all the NKOTB shout-outs. There was so much she said that had me saying back "Yes 'Kimmie'! All that and a bag of chips!"

As a girl who spent her life always feeling like the sidekick, this book was perfection for me. Sage advice, honestly, 90's nostalgia, running wisdom... All coming at me in her own voice too. I adored this book.

“Loneliness is only lonely because of the fear that you will forever be alone. Solitude is simply the other side of the coin. It’s being comfortable with the idea of being alone, without any fear.”

“Sometimes you don’t need an answer, you just need to feel heard. Sometimes you just need to know someone sees you. Sometimes you just need someone to acknowledge that your pain exists.”
