My journey with the Godblind trilogy is all done and while Bloodchild was a really solid conclusion, it slightly missed the 5 star mark for me. Bloodchild was by far my favorite installment. Anna Stephens had a pretty clear vision going into this finale. Darksoul set it up so wonderfully, so that Bloodchild could run.
The action and the political maneuvers were executed extremely well. The character arcs were a lot more focused individually for all the main POVs. Each and everyone had a clear path, but ultimately the same goal, just a different set of obstacles. Throughout this series the characters that stood out the most to me were definitely Crys, Mace, Rillirin, Corvus, Tara, and Blessed One. I think where this book, this series as a whole, fell for me was that we had so many POVs that it felt like some of them were forgotten. I mean yes I know some of them died I won't say who, but this book was stronger because it focused on the main players. Such a minor detail, but with a big impact.
Anna Stephens proved she is meant to be an author. The Godblind trilogy showed Anna's growth and her ability to really push the limit. I am really excited for Anna Stephens works in the future. I think she is really going to be one of those authors who I follow incessantly. Luckily I have The Stone Knife waiting for me but I will save that for later.

Anna Stephens wrote this whole trilogy for the girls and the gays and no one else and I for one am eternally grateful to her for it.

This is the culmination of the Godblind trilogy and the author saved the best for last.
By this book I was fully invested in the characters and the world. Compared to the previous books this has less POV characters and the chapters while still short had a little more room to breathe over the previous books.
From the start to the end I was gripped and could not stop reading to find out how the story ended. I was not disappointed.
4.5 *
Fantastic conclusion to a great fantasy series. Action-packed and full of feels. The ending even made me a little emotional, but happy emotional.

What an ending to a great series!!
I'm at a loss for words on how to describe my feelings for this book, and this series on a whole. The first book blew me away and the following two books have not disappointed. Anna Stephens has created a wonderful world and well-fleshed out characters, some of whom have become very precious to me and some of whom I was grateful for their demise.
I have felt a multitude of feelings over this series and I love when books can bring out multiple feelings from me at the same time. Like rip my heart out then instantly hug it. I definitely felt that at the end of this book.
I'm going to miss this series and these characters immensely but I am looking forward to reading anything else Anna Stephens writes. Highly recommend these books for Fantasy and Grimdark fans!

I have enjoyed reading the Godblind trilogy immensely. It has been a wild ride full of misery, violence, gore and some genuinely uncomfortable moments that make you wince. It is also full of interesting characters who I both love and hate, depending on what side they are on.
At the end of the last book, things weren’t looking too good. Yes, the Blessed One’s plans had been disrupted but the city had been lost to Corvus. Fast forward to Bloodchild and now Lanta wants to use Rillirin’s unborn child to be the new vessel for the Dark Lady, and the rest of the characters are trying to stop her and Corvus. It goes about as violently as you would expect.
I loved reading these characters stories. After three books it’s hard not to be invested in their journeys and you want to see them succeed in utterly destroying the enemy. The story is brutal and violent and not everyone survives which is hard to read but works really well in making you invested in the story. I didn’t cry whilst reading it but my lip was wobbling at one point which just goes to show how much I cared about the characters. The novel ends on a hopeful note which was really nice after three books of unrelenting grimdark misery (not that I don’t love a nice bit of grimdark misery but I’m a sucker for a nice ending).
Bloodchild managed to hit all the sweet spots that I love to read about. It is action packed with lots of violence and a compelling story that I wanted to both finish and not want to end. There’s some sweet romance to appeal to my softer side and it manages to be heart breaking and hopeful amongst all of the violence. I loved the characters and I loved the story. It was an almost perfect book for me.
