This was a lovely little book that held me the entire time. The concept of wormholes appearing in an IKEA-like furniture store felt so fresh, yet the thing that I always imagine subconsciously when I go inside. The critique of capitalism that was presented through this story was also great. The soul sucking nature of these jobs and their corruptness had me going “yeah that checks out” often.

Ava and Jules, as characters individually but also in their relationship, were so strong as the center of this book. I loved getting to experience how they came together after breaking up, and how this ridiculous, fantastical, and dangerous situation helped them.

I’m excited that there are more stories in this world, because it felt so captivating.

Interesting! worth the read

A quick almost-scifi almost-romcom almost-action story
tense fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix

Every world has its monsters. I've been watching the news and yours is no exception.

Ava and Jules are disgruntled workers at LitenVärld. They dated for a while, but Ava's rearranged her life to avoid her ex; encounters with them are too awkward. So she's less-than-delighted when Jules turns up on her shift. When a customer goes missing
through a maskhål (Swedish for wormhole)
. When Jules volunteers to track down the errant grandmother and Ava is voluntold to join them. These dysfunctional not-quite-friends journey through wild and dangerous landscapes on their employer's mission.

Fun, if a little slapdash. I guess I can't tell why we didn't get a novel? I didn't quite believe the relationship backstory and botched intimacy. I wish we had scenes of Jules and Ava's past tryst, to see their incompatibility in context, not just announcements of it. The quickly shifting settings could also have been more fun with even more details.
