I've been struggling to get into the habit of reading lately and this is the ideal book to get me back in. You're hooked from the first page and the way Angela Makholwa writes feels as if you're at these catered and opulent events, listening in.

Slow going, interesting insight into different lifestyles. The big event and follow up felt a rushed and disconnected from the elements before

Angela Makholwa is effortlessly hilariously witty and it shows in all her work. One of my favourite things was that although some characters showed xenophobic and classist traits, you could tell those are not Angela’s views but a depiction of the South African society. All the women in the book had admirable traits too. Love her work.
