While not quite as strong as the first book, this is still a riveting sequel full of angst and creative world-building. I came for Mark and Gordo, but I actually fell more in love with Team Human and Kelly and Carter’s sibling bond. TJ Klune writes found family really REALLY well.

I was not prepared to cry this much.   I was excited for Mark and Gordo's story, and I'm now looking forward to Carter's.  I'm not quite sure why Ox tries to talk to the villains so much.   Elijah's rants were so awful. </ spoiler>
