Art ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Story ⭐️⭐️1/2 - Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Better than issue 4, but still not enough. It’s really good to look at, with its vivid colours and it’s manga-ish art, but almost next to nothing happens, and it’s just not enough for four bucks. Close to the cutting block I’m afraid.

Enjoying this series as always. Some shenanigans happening here that seem to be building up in interesting ways.

Gwen has been through a lot lately. And I mean, a lot. So it’s nice to see an issue that’s a bit more chill. She deserves a break, and frankly so do we. Plus, as an added bonus, having Gwen just trying to settle back into her world is good for the newer readers to the series.
This issue did a great job of establishing all the main points in Gwen’s life. From how her world functions, to everything she has going on in it, to the people surrounding her. It’s a perfect catch up for any new fans, which I love. I’m sure that some of Seanan McGuire’s fans followed her to this series (I myself adore her, and would have done the same had I not already been reading the series), so I’m glad she’s taking care of her fans.
Plus it gives everyone an idea of the baseline for Gwen’s world, and thus any potential plots. So, on the whole, it really is a smart call.
