So firstly I want to note that I was SO PROUD of myself for reading a book that I already owned, and then I discovered I hadn't even put it on my GR which clearly means it didn't exist. So my TBR on here doesn't even go down one. Boo.

Second, I am writing this review solely because I'm annoyed at myself for not writing a review of Something to Talk About, Wilsner's debut, which I remember loving, but I also see I gave it 4 stars. Which is not a bad rating, but of course nearly two years later I don't remember anything about it.

I liked Mistakes Were Made! It was fun and super sexy. I normally don't really care about age differences in real life or romance novels but (hypocritically of course) in my books I do sometimes find it less believable when it's one person in college and one who is not - there's just something about the characters not being in the same place in life that doesn't always read as doable to me. Though I did feel like Cassie's character being a bit more mature and independent read as realistic due to what seemed like her childhood trauma. So there's that.

Additionally, the beats in this book were kind of weird. I kept waiting for a shoe to drop at the end, and it does, but definitely not in the way I expected, and I suppose that's why I read romance, to find out HOW the couple gets together, not that they do, but I felt a little off-kilter while reading this one.

I did love Erin's therapy sessions because they felt real and healthy which is not always the case in romance. Also, I loved the friendships and found family, and I really liked how Cassie made her own choices about her future and it didn't feel like she was unduly influenced by her relationship.
SpoilerWhen she says at the end that she's built a life where she's at and that CalTech was the goal because of just the feeling of getting away but she ends up going to MIT, it feels reasonable. Also it's not like MIT was a downgrade....

Overall 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 which is the same as I gave Something to Talk About but I do feel like I liked that one better. Now aren't you glad you read this review? And hi, Kate in 2 years when you pick up Wilsner's next book.

This book could have ended several times before it actually did. Was longer than it needed to be and I found myself reading to just get the end to see how things played out (I’d had a strong feeling about a lot that ended up happening). Also some cringey moments, but the spice was definitely spicing

This book was pure fun! I'll admit, I was getting uncomfy with the "banging your best friend's mom secretly" situation, but once I decided to not take it took seriously (because, I mean, you can't) I had a ton of fun with it.

If you're looking for a smutty taboo sapphic story for the holiday season, this delivers.

Thank you to the publisher for granting me access to an ARC via NetGalley.

I bought this book on a whim during a random wander through a book store. Best decision ever.

What can I say? The heat, the stolen glances, the forbidden romance, it was all done to perfection. I read this book on a night and couldn’t love the characters more. Cassie and Erin just have a perfectly magical fire between them that is so special. The love they both have for Parker and wanting to protect her feelings and Acacia’s brilliance in supporting them all. I honestly loved this book so much.

Also, the spice is just *chef’s kiss*

Highly, highly recommend this book! I will be RUNNING to get my hands on everything Meryl Wilsner writes.

This was a weeeeird concept and I feel like it just skipped over a lot of character development just to get to sex scenes. It wasn’t bad for just like a casual beach read but this wasn’t groundbreaking material.

my first book by meryl wilsner and i can’t wait to read her book cleat cute- i LOVE a good sapphic romance and the spice in this did not disappoint. i usually like an age gap, but this one was a bit odd to me i think because cassie and parker were friends and not far in age and not ONLY that but the pettiness between them mid book was so immature. i also wish there was more erin pov, cassie definitely feels like the main main character in this

Oh my gosh this book! This book was everything and more! This was so hot in the absolute best way. I loved the relationships because while it was definitely hot as heck it was also really sweet in a lot of places. The characters were fun and very likable. I wanted things to work out so badly for them. I am definitely going to be receiving this book to everyone.
