Should have been a DNF. (Related: 2025 new year’s goal is to stop finishing books I hate at 50%.)
I like spicy books. I don’t mind smut at all. But I need my book to have a plot and something else to stand on, and this one did not. If it wasn’t a sex scene, it was thinking about it, or something sex-adjacent.

OK, so I picked up this book off the cover alone (I was hoping it was a queer story and was happy to be right). I will preface this by saying this is the first ever age gap romance I've ever read. It is definitely NOT the first Sapphic romance, however.
I found the idea exciting, and the main characters were easy to understand and connect with. I particularly loved Erin. She struggles with a lot of guilt and personal trauma throughout the story.
I was a little upset, though, that Parker didn't play a more important role in the story. Being that she is literally what makes the romance between Erin and Cassie so forbidden in the first place, it feels like she should have more development and impact throughout the book.
Despite that, the book was pretty great. I do feel like it could have been better if there had been a more bittersweet ending than what we actually got.
As for spice, there are many, many, many scenes in the book. Lol, they just weren't as hot as I was hoping for. (That might have more to say about me than the book
