Reread/Relisten June 2023

New rating 3.5 stars but rounding up.

This time around I was hooked beginning to end with this one and so I am upping the rating. Dex did get away with more than he should have from Sloane though haha

2.5-3 stars: November 2021

Okay didn’t love this book and didn’t hate it.

I felt like Dex got away with a little too much from Sloane.. but ehh what you gunna do.

Overall the action was good and the team was funny like always. I am excited to get started on Ash and Caels book!!

I know that for some people, this series is starting to kind of fall off at this point. People are ready for a new main couple, and I guess I can see the point, but I still love Dex and Sloane, so they haven't gotten old to me yet.

I think my one major complaint for this book (other than Sloane being sidelined for most of it) is that the author is ramping up not one, but TWO side relationships (2 and a half, if you count Seb's mess), on top of Dex and Sloane and the THIRDS business. I really wish the author would have picked one side pairing and gotten it started, gave us their book, and THEN started moving forward with pairing two. It's just a lot to keep up with, with Dex & Sloane, Ash & Cael, AND Calvin & Hobbs, all taking time away from the main story.

But still, all in all, this series is still pretty fun for me. Not perfect, by any means, but a nice, mindless way to while away a Saturday afternoon.

Wow. For some reason that just totally clicked for me.

I’ve got to say that the best part of this book was the fantastic fun factor, in and amongst the serious parts of finding and bringing down some bad guys. As this series continues, stories and backgrounds are layered and growing more complex, making it all the more interesting. This cast of characters mesh so well as they bring an extremely entertaining view into the various shenanigans and crazy situations they find themselves in. It all just worked, you know?

Despite some frustrating lack of communication between Dex and Sloane, their relationship and the other pairings made for some really great moments. So much drama, drama, drama - but the good kind! And the love proclamations?? Don’t get me started. FINALLY, Sloane gets his head out of his ass and we get to see him and Dex really connect and eventually be free to express how they feel. Fans of shifter books won’t be disappointed at all with what goes down with these two. Uh huh.

So there’s some kick ass action, and some major (but well loved) dopey, sappy, swoony scenes. I think I went “awwww” at least 100 times between Sloane & Dex, Ash & Cael and Calvin & Hobbes. No joke. This series has really hit its stride, and I’m now totally invested!

I got bored with this book, and I ended up reading other things in the middle. I just came back to finish it and I feel like I'm so tired of the series.

Dex is annoyingly stubborn. I hate miscommunication and not talking about things and there was a lot going on here. seriously it gives me so much anxiety.
