super cute, especially at the end when maya had to help noah win his race. the writing styles annoyed me at times i felt it was too explanatory but still a really good story. loving my sports romances lately

Such a cute story. I love Lauren Asher's writing style and the way she tells a story. The pacing was good and I feel like things happened in a realistic time frame which is almost unheard of in a romance book.

I know next to nothing about Formula 1 but it was still a good read and didn't focus too much on those specifics to keep me interested.

I loved the characters in different ways. Both Maya and Noah are contrasting characters but work so well together and bring out the best in each other. Plus, we love a guy who goes to therapy and sorts his shit out on his own accord to try to better himself instead of wallowing in what life has dealt him and refusing to change. Wasn't a huge fan of Noah at the start but even when was doing stereotypical playboy shit and being a dick there was something about him that I liked which is a hard balance to have. Maya was cute and fun but wasn't written in a childish way which I really enjoyed. Her relationship with her brother and her family was so lovely to read.
And how her family accepted and included Noah in the epilogue was adorable and well earned for him.

The side characters were nice additions and I can see how they will be able to form their own books.

Loved it.

This was fun & sexy. The writing wasn't necessarily the best (a lot of tell instead of showing) and Noah seemed to have whiplash on some of the decisions he would make during his POV chapters vs. what he actually went and did. But if you're looking for a fun romance set in the world of Formula 1, this is a great read. I appreciated how both leads were supportive of each other and gave each other pushes to grow.

Fear is not always a weakness. It's what you do with the fear that shows your true strength.

Arghhh, I’m so conflicted about
Throttled. I didn’t dislike it, but I also didn’t love it. And that is so weird to me. This first part in the Dirty Air-series by Lauren Asher embodies everything I am: a hopeless romantic and an F1 lover - so it pains me that I didn’t fully fall head over heels with it. It was a book that when I picked it up I flew through it, but as soon as I put it down it started to collect dust.

Okay, but what are the positive things I took away from reading Throttled? For starters, I adore all the little F1 details. From the way the press conferences are described ("F1 panels are juicy. You'll enjoy it, I know it.), to little comments on the weekend format, to the complete bashing of the guys that drive in the sport (“These racers and their egos, fragile little things.”). Was it all realistic? No, not at all. Having someone who doesn’t work on the pitwall come on the radio during the race? The fact that there is never a formation lap? But that is me picking bits out.

Will I be reading the rest of the series? Probably, but I’m not rushing to get into the rest. And while Maya and Noah had an interesting dynamic and I cracked up multiple times because of the situations they were put in, I can’t picture how the other pairings will be.

It made me laugh, it made me cry and it made me fall in love with F1.

I loved the banter between Noah and Maya! What an amazing and loveable couple. It’s the kind of love everyone dreams about! 😍

Can somebody please tell me if there is a bootcamp to send your boyfriends to so they can become a Noah Slade? 🫣
