I LOVED THIS BOOK! It is a quite slow book, and it took me awhile to get into, but all of a sudden I felt so much for the (AMAZING) characters. The characters are VERY flawed, but every character is so loveable. I loved the pace of the book, and how we follow the characters for 30 years. I reminded me of a modern version of Firefly Lane.
This book tackles some very difficult topics and situations, that could be very triggering. I appreciated the way they were handled, and how the characters handled them very differently.

As a non-gamer I didn't expect to love this book but it totally surprised me with its depth. I binged it in two days because I just had to know what's next.

this one was surprising for me, in that i really didn't want to read it because i feel like i've been reading a lot of books in a similar vein (the ups and downs of some sort of relationship between two people spanning decades) and the majority of them have been duds. this one wasn't so bad! the writing was really well done and probably the saving grace for me as i did find the characters to be unlikeable a lot of the time. part seven was beautifully done and really did me in. i enjoyed the pacing and a lot of moments were really good (the anna lee/anne lee part is another section to mention). i did find a lot of the verbiage to be repetitive though - he said/she said instead of something more descriptive, "polyhedral die," that sort of thing. i also found some of the timeline with the games/technology to be a little questionable at times. but, i realize this is all very nitpicky stuff and at the end of the day, i found the overall story to be enjoyable and i get the hype.

A perfect stand alone book. If you’re into feeling things chances are you’ll run the spectrum of emotion, i definitely did. The characters are relatable, couched in a reality that could fit into my childhood timeline and follow my own progression to adulthood. Just impeccable humanity in this book.

This book had a huge potential. It was very enjoyable until a sudden event which was super unneeded and didn't contribute much to the story. Overall I hated Don and his whole relationship with Sadie. Marx was lovely, Sam was complicated and Sadie was just meh, I think the author didn't explore her much which made her seem very 1D. The whole story could've been planned and executed better in my opinion.

I loved this book. It was so good! I loved that the perspectives change subtly. I loved that it follows the characters through several stages of their lives, but doesn’t feel jarring when the time jumps. I loved how much they all loved each other. Truly beautiful.
