I picked up 'The Christmas Cupid' due to its catchy slogan and just the whole premise. Sadly, it fell flat to me. I didnt gain attached to the plot or any of the characters. It started interesting but as it progressed, I just felt bored. Maybe some people will love this book, but it's a no from me.

3.5 rounded up.

A British woman gets a second chance at life and love in this holiday story that sees Zoey being hit by a bus on Christmas Eve and being tasked with matching six couples in order to get her life back. This story gave me lots of Drop Dead Diva vibes and I enjoyed it for the most part but I did really wish Zoey had figured out sooner that she deserved more than the toxic relationship she had with her boyfriend. Good on audio, this was a light-hearted holiday rom com with some fun moments (ie the escape room scenes). Much thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital copy in exchange for my honest review.

Just a silly lil cozy Christmas read. Wouldn’t recommend unless someone needs something so predictable and wants cozy.

I picked up this book because it sounded like a cute Christmas book. Sadly it fell a bit flat for me. I found the book to be slow at times and didn't just find myself connecting with the characters.

I did enjoy the side characters in this book like Zoey's friend Eloise, her neighbours and coworkers, but Zoey herself felt written as simply "the quirky girl". I also despised Scott. I get that we are supposed to come to a realization that we don't like him, as Zoey does, but I think their relationship just dragged on for to long.

I think there are some people that would love this book, and I could even see loving this as a movie that I watch at Christmas time, but it just wasn't the right book for me. Thank you to NetGalley and HQ Digital for a copy of this book. All opinions are 100% mine.

Get your flavored hot chocolate and cozy sweaters ready! There’s a new book to scoop up before the holiday season and it’s a cute one! Picture this: A Christmas parade gone wrong leaves you dead. But! You have a chance to go back and live. All you have to do is find six true love matches before your death on Christmas Eve.

The Christmas Cupid was a fun read. We’ve seen so many different variations of this story, but that’s because it’s a good one! The holiday match-making shenanigans were so much fun to watch. I was trying to think of potential couples the whole way through

3.5 stars for me!

I enjoyed the fantasy element of this book and it was super festive - you definitely felt the Christmas vibes, from Zoey being an elf to the Christmas market and fun activities, it felt very fun. What didn't work for me was Zoey's relationship with Scott. I found myself getting really frustrated with how clueless she was to the fact that Scott was NOT interested at all and was emotionally cheating on her with Kelsey. I wished she would have realized sooner that he was an immature man-child and left him, but better late than never! Overall, I really enjoyed this festive read, the fantasy element of getting a do-over, all the side characters and relationships that Zoey matchmade, and the happy ending :)

The Christmas Cupid by Jennifer Joyce

I received an advance review copy for free thanks to NetGalley and HQ Digital and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Blurb

Zoey Beake is having a bad December. She’s just been dumped, she’s had an extremely dodgy haircut that even the biggest woolly hat can’t hide, and then a tragic accident – involving an elf outfit, stilts, and a red double-decker bus labelled ‘The Santa Express’ – leaves her dead.

But then Zoey is given a second chance at life. Sent back to the start of December, if she can match six couples by Christmas Eve her life will be saved. Which gives her the perfect opportunity to win her boyfriend back too…

Can Zoey find love in time for Christmas?

My Opinion

Well this was an interesting Christmas book - an enjoyable light-hearted read. As the book progresses I found myself wishing that Zoey would pull herself together and just see that she deserved so much better than Scott - will she work it out before it is too late?

A festive rom-com, with some entertaining attempts to play cupid. My only previous book by Jennifer Joyce was a festive novella, so it was nice to read a full length novel. Throughout this book there were some lovely descriptions of festive cupcakes, you have been warned.
