A powerful story about three generations of women cursed with magical abilities. The story itself explores the ways generational trauma has affected each of them and follows their journey towards healing. I enjoyed reading from each of their perspectives and loved watching their growth and character development.

Wish I could give it more stars. It was lovely and funny and heartbreaking and hopeful all at once. The different perspectives were delightful and I found myself rooting for all of the characters, even when their goals were at odds with one another.

generational family drama about magical women yay!

I really enjoyed this book. The magical realism wasn’t too over the top and the relationships were pretty realistic.

This is an easy read about three generations of daughters who struggle with the complexity of the mother-daughter relationship.  I loved the element of Mexican culture and enjoyed this book.

4/5!

Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for allowing me to read the ARC for this !

This was just a lovely read! As a daughter of immigrant + Latinx parents, this really hit home for myself. Reading about the generational trauma of each of the Olivares women and the way that Anguistas + Felicitas were trying to break away from it, really touched me.

I loved the touch of magic there was in this book! It reminded me of Encanto where everyone had their own specific magical power. I’m not sure if I’m just in a fantasy mood but I wish we got to explore that a bit more! Other than that, I really liked this!
