I love Tijan as an author, however this book did not do it for me. It's my least favorite book by her so far.

The plot twists were obvious and mostly predictable.  The best friend was harpy and controlling. The fmc was so incredibly codependent until a switched flipped in her (in like the last 2 pages) and then she was just angry. I'll read the second book to see if there's any redemption to this story. I actually quite enjoyed Jesse's character, it was clear he was haunted by something more than just Ethan's death, but it was also obvious that he cares so much for Alex.
Alex was incredibly meek and timid in the beginning and gradually spoke her mind. But it was just in moments of anger. You saw more and more personality from jesse as and tenderness but Alex was stagnant in my opinion.

I do think this *may* have been a little bit better if it started in a college environment. The added high school drama was kind of annoying. And it's uncomfortable to read a book about high schoolers getting wasted and having sex.

Also, the audio recording has significantly more details than the written text on kindle. Almost as if parts were deleted to shorten the length of the book. But some of the information left out on Kindle were important details.
