I had never read any of the series in which America was previously featured, but when I read she was Puerto Rican and queer, I had to check her out. Boy am I glad I did! There was so much to love in this volume. I am now hooked on this series.

I've never known love like this before!

This is so great! I adore every single thing about this book! I'm in love with Gabby Rivera!

Okay, to start, aside from Ultimates, I've read every single issue America Chavez appears in. Every issue! Even Teen Brigade. She's one of my all time favorite characters and I loved her the most in Young Avengers! She's a kick ass, lesbian Latina character and I've always been in love with her.

I love the nerdy references in this book! Everything from Star Wars to Fifth Element and the nod at emo kids with the MCR reference. It's like Rivera grew up in my neighborhood! I love America's voice in this! She's given a lot more depth and range of emotion here Young Avengers rarely displayed any hint of vulnerability. Rivera is showing us an entirely new side of America and I can't wait to see where she takes us next.

I have to say, as an Amerikate shipper, my little heart was singing. I love them together and I died when Kate spoke of her and said "Stars and hearts. Mega-babe. My best one." Do it, Marvel! Make them a couple! Please, I'll forgive you for CW II. I promise I will!

Anyway, the talent behind this book excites me even more! This is such a great step in terms of representation in Marvel comics and on top of that, this is a damn good book.

5 stars and hearts!

I was excited to be introduced to America, the queer, Latina, kick-ass heroine from the Young Avengers and Ultimates but she kinda fell flat for me. It could be that I tend to read volumes versus singles in new series but there's something about there that makes her two-dimensional to me. I'm hoping that with the next installments we get more depth and vulnerability out of her. Not because these things are human but because they soften yet strengthen an almost impervious character.

I felt very meh about this. I have the first volume in my hands. Since it's due at the library tomorrow and I'm not all that interested, I'm not going to bother with the rest.

I have been looking forward to reading this since I first heard of it. A Puerto Rican, female, from New York, AND SHES A LESBIAN? I mean what is there not to like? Also written by Gabby Rivera? Sign me up. I got the 1st issue for free at a vender last year at Megacon. This past week I bought Vol. 1 because even if I hadn't read it, I know I was going to like it. I mean why wouldn't I? It has everything. Action, gay, females, puerto rican lead, and the premise was awesome.

I read the first issue and I enjoyed it, but I thought some of the dialogue was cheesy and way over the top. I built up all this anticipation, excitement, and it was okay. The action scenes were quick and easy. America has some cool powers though. She can open portals and has this super punch. I hope Vol. 1 picks up the pace. The start was slow, I don't know anything about America besides her labels. She's puerto rican, female, from New York (not really), and a lesbian. Her attitude is a bit on the annoying side. Like I said, hopefully the pace picks up, the plot develops, and we find out more about America.

Artwork was amazing as well. Extremely detailed.
