We're doing this for book club next week and I'm so excited! I'm not going to let the kids say more than three words at a time. It will be an enormous challenge for some of them. [Insert evil laugh.]

Very fun...read to my fourth grade class...makes your students think about the words they use...

Cute read aloud. My kids attempted a "no talking" challenge, but it was virtually impossible and not all of the other teachers were game to cooperate. Fun, nonetheless, and the students enjoyed hearing the book readaloud. Perfect for our communication unit.

Terrific! I loved how it was like it was written by a kid but still made sense! Dave and Lynsey are seeing who can go the longest without talking but when the rest of the fifth graders overhear they decide they want to do it to.

I read this as part of a book club that I run for my primary school. It's a fun book with a thought-provoking topic for young readers. It's interesting and fast-paced enough with its drama. There is little to no character building, however, it's quite plot-driven. The setting and themes are some what relatable. Would recommend for grade 4-6 students.

My students enjoyed this more than I did. Not the best book for an inner city school read aloud, unfortunately.

Very fun account of fifth grade boys vs. girls in a no talking competition. Lots of comedy. Clements always delivers very humorous and believable realistic fiction.
