What a strange feeling this book envokes.
The prose are so beautiful and masterful that you almost forget the narrator you're reading from.
It was gentle in it's presentation of awful and morally abject topics. Yet, you find yourself almost bamboozled by Humbert's melodic nature of his obsession with Dolores. We see nothing from her POV, bar small snipets where you're thrust back into remembering she is a victim - regardless of his notions of her forwardness.
The eb and flow of this unreliable narrator, softly in and out of aggressive, violent and diabolical behaviours - truly was crazy.
You know you don't condone or even vaguely like Humbert but the prose is so masterful and honestly delightful to read, it's kind of annoying.
Just a fking rollercoaster of literature. 🙃
