This book was just shy of being a 5 star for me. I really like books in which the narrator comes off as honest, rather than unilaterally likeable. I appreciate the reflections on time and how it operates because I am very similar in that I often try to dig my heels in when I’m enjoying a moment that I’m sure will end soon. Same again, I’m also tied to physical objects, enchanted by their potential value, purpose. There were only a few parts where it felt maybe a little over simplified.

“To be melancholy is to be self-haunted, and among the many reasons this is an unsatisfactory explanation for living inside a jam jar inside an aquarium, foremost among them is that there are no good stories to tell of your bleak time in a beautiful place, and no specter to blame for the fact that happiness, though it should have been inescapable, evaded you.”

Delightful! Makes me want to read more from this author!

The kind of book you read on Sunday morning when you're not quite ready to get out of the blankets. Her musings are funny and engaging and before you know it, you've read half the book.
