This book... I was excited to read it when I first picked it up but I didn't expect to love it nearly as much as I did. The writing! That writing was some of the most poetic writing I have read in a while. I found myself highlighting so many phrases and quotes.

I really respected this book too, I love when LGBT books have original plots past things like coming out. The strange world with the two Suns, the war, the way everything worked was intricate. And the desert setting mixed with the slaves and war reminded me of Danys storyline in book one of the Game of Thrones.

I thought that Tam and Kai's love story was so beautiful and in depth that I shipped it from the first chapter. But I was never fully sure how to feel about the Master. Sure there was some steamy scenes with him but sometimes it felt like he was a father figure... Also I didn't really think that Kai would cave and end up sleeping with him. I guess it was because I'm not used to polyamorous relationships so I kind of wanted it to just be Kai and Tam. Or at least just Tam being conflicted about which one he wants to be with more.

I'll be honest, this is one of those books that tends to have a sex scene every other chapter at least (so I guess use your discretion before picking up)

I don't think that the Masters dead and of course, I hated that this book decided to do the same stupid abrupt, open ended, cliffhanger ending that most ebooks tend to do.

Aside from all of that though I loved this book and am excited to eventually pick up the rest.

There are a lot of things that I like about this book, but at the same time there is plenty of things that rub me the wrong way. This is a solid 3.5 read, however a wicked cliffie makes me lower my rating down to 3.
I don’t think I will be reading the next installment. Judging by the reviews it will not be a very good read for me (and no, it’s not the torture).

Smutty

Full to the brim with erotic detail this isn't such a bad read. The character development is there, but it could have been better, longer and more detailed. There was little plot asides from the relationship between the three main characters, with little to no sub characters. A good read. Quick and easy.

THAT DAMN CLIFF HANGER AT THE END!

Love the master/slave relationship books, so this was a great read for me. I just wish there was more about Kai being upset during the night. It seemed it was a two day thing then Tam comes in and everything's okay. Sex scenes were hot, lots of good sex if you like those. Will read the other two books because I need to know what happens to them!

This is an interesting M/M/M romance set in a fantasy world that resembles roughly the Roman period. I liked the characters and the chemistry well enough but they're not my favourites. In some places the story dragged a bit and I am taking one star off for the abrupt ending - it's not even a cliffhanger: the book literally stops in the middle of the plot.

This was SOOO not for me. I just neer got into it. There's no real plot. Just lots of fighting, and hate sex, then sudden feelings. Not to mention a cliffhanger that came out of nowhere. I really didn't like Kai. Like at all. Which makes me feel bad because I think he reacts reasonably. He was just such a petulant sulking whinebag. I felt bad for Tam for having him be his only human contact, aside from "Master", which again I admit is weird because Tam was sooooo brainwashed, total Stockholm Syndrome. But at the same time he wasn't. He was aware of the issues, he just didn't care. Honestly I liked Tam/Master way more. Which yeah...messed up. But it is what it is. I don't know if I'll ever read book two. But I do wanna know how it all turns out, though I'm sure I can guess. Bleh.
