I saved this book to read it on the night of Halloween. It’s a classic, short werewolf story that takes place over the span of a year on the nights of a full moon. The artwork is GREAT in this book, however sometimes it is placed before what happens in the book, so…. maybe small spoilers throughout? Haha

not necessarily a bad book but not mind blowing either. It's a quick read, with short easy to read chapters and the entire story takes place over 1 year, each chapter being a different month. if you are a die hard Stephen king fan or lover werewolf books that I would recommend you picking up this book, if you are more of a casual fan that I see no harm in skipping this book. Overall thoughts, it was just kinda meh
3.0⭐ Howling good time: Rural gothic with a commentary on small towns
This is a short story, complemented with nice, 80's paperback-horror art by Berni Wrightson- classic as fuck. This was King's 15th publication, from the year 1983. It's a good time. I reccomend reading around Halloween for asethetic, but because the wolf takes a new victim each month, you're bound to peg some asethetic relative to whatever month you're in. There's a lot of commentary about small town living. The way it changes, but never moves. The traditional small-town players are at large, and they make the story. I've noted in former reviews that in small town stories, the town is a character as well as a setting - that's true for Cycle of the Werewolf, making it a more honest, interesting piece.

I really liked this novella! I always love a good werewolf story. This story also reminded me a little bit of the Netflix show Midnight Mass. Now I'm interested in watching the 1985 film based on this novella! I left my copy at the Little Free Library in William Heise Park campground in Julian, CA.
