A werewolf wreaks havoc on a small Maine town, attacking on a full moon night each month. An entertaining, quick read with a unique structure.
SK is somehow able to effectively portray a town in fear and connect you to a character worth rooting for in only 129 pages.

Such a simple premise, done so very well.

Werewolves aren't high on my list of horror characters (unless, in their off time, they play guitar and date witches). But this book takes the werewolf genre, and simplifies it.

Which is insane, because this is Stephen King. STEPHEN KING SIMPLIFIED SOMETHING ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Each month, who gets attacked. And at the same time, you get more details about how the town is reacting, what they believe. Fantastic.

I watched Silver Bullet as a little girl, but it's been minimally 25 years or so since. I know they don't follow exactly, but I really need to get my hands on that movie again.

Excellent book. Early King is best King.

Another great book from the amazing SK! It was a good story, I'm just surprised there wasn't much gore. Especially for an SK book. I loved the illustrations in this book, which were really detailed.

Classic werewolf tale with brilliant art by the late, lamented Bernie Wrightson. It’s basically an illustrated novella, but King is in fine form, creating suspense with his patented mix of pop culture and small town pathos.

Definitely not my favorite, but I'm glad I cranked it out in time to stay on track for Year of King.

I don't know if too many people have seen the mid-80s film Silver Bullet, but that movie is based on this book.  I've seen the movie, but this is my first time reading the book, and I have to say I'm a little torn on it.

The story itself is super short.  I'm a slow reader, and I think I finished it in just over 2 hours.  The chapters are divided into different months, which each dealing with a different werewolf attack.  While I really like this idea, the chapters go by so fast that there isn't enough character development given to anyone including the werewolf.  So I didn't really care what happened to anyone.  That being said, the scenes were the werewolf attacks are so visceral and horrific that they remind me of old 80s horror movies.  I loved it.

While not nearly King's best work, it's still worth an afternoon read.
