The amount of twists in this book kept me hooked the entire time and I couldn’t wait to finish but didn’t want it to end. Romance Fantasy based in Philadelphia with a 30 year old bi journalist woman main character and an immortal king is exactly what readers need.

This story is filled with longing and heartache and sadness and rage. The FMC is in her 30s and ya'll, her ass is tired. The MMC is an immortal fey king who is also tired. The world is torn in 2, nothing is at it seems and yet at its heart, BTAD asks you to look deeper.
So many times while reading this, I found myself questioning what was real and what wasn't. It was easy to get consumed by the story and the cycle of love and loss our characters go through.
I will be impatiently waiting for book 2 while staring at a blank wall.

I am in an awful reading slum and I just did not care about the characters. I also felt lost with the plot and was not invested. I always say that I want to try to read this again, but I never do…
Urban fantasies aren't usually my thing, but this was so engaging. Great mythology, interesting settings and otherworldly pieces. Definitely excited to continue this story in the next installment
