Beyond the Aching Door is a really different turn on the fae/fey romance that instead draws more on Celtic and Slavic mythology for worldbuilding the fantasy elements of the novel, which also keeping the book set in modern Philadelphia - a super cool dichotomy. There were some points that felt like they were getting beyond my comprehension and becoming a little too full of unexplained mythos, and at times Raegan’s temper read as more “pouty child” than “independent adult woman” (which is why I dropped a star) but I still really enjoyed the book and am excited for the next one!
