Madeline Dyer has become one of my go-to indie authors thanks to her work on the YA dystopian Untamed series. A lot of those threads are present here as well in the short story The Curse of the Winged Wight, a retelling of the fairy tale The Sleeping Beauty.
I must confess a certain ignorance when it comes to fairy tales and modern retellings. Even still, this story was easy to follow along with, and Dyer's present-tense, first-person writing style perfectly suited the narrative. Even as Dyer spreads her metaphorical wings, it's clear she hasn't strayed too far from her dystopian and gothic influences.
The Curse of the Winged Wight is an engrossing, entertaining read. If you're a fan of fairy tale retellings, Dyer's work, or you're just looking for something new to try, this is a highly recommended read.

This was so good. It's a quick listen with a lot that happens, I was hooked. I love that the author used the darker version of Sleeping Beauty and gave it a nice twist.
The narration wasn't my favourite but it was a decent performance.
