Was this confusing? Yes.... But was it enjoyable? ...also yes
Kurt Vonnegut has a way with writing that's fun and engaging. The strange cult..religion was definitely fun. But it was no The Sirens of Titan

Like Vonnegut's other works like Slaughterhouse-Five and Mother Night, this book is also at its core, an anti-war book. Especially, the story concerns itself with the dangers of WMD (Weapons of mass destruction) i.e Ice-nine and something that is even more perilous to the fate of humanity, that something being human stupidity.
Cat's Cradle is a short read and the story unravels from the pov of Jonah/John/Sam, a writer who comes to interview someone and (is almost never addressed by name) finds himself as a candidate for presidency of a banana republic, called San Lorenzo.
There are a lot of hilarious lines peppered in along with more poignant observations ('we live in a society' moments), but the humor in Cat's Cradle is more along the lines of satirical gallows humor rather than mere witty rejoinders.
There is also a colourful cast of characters, ranging from scientists who are slightly off their rocker to religious cult leaders armed with the wisdom of hokey religions.
Overall, this has easily become one of my favourite reads so far. In the end it'll make you laugh, cry and think. 10/10 would recommend.
