A book about religion that’s really about science that’s really about humans’ need to find meaning in nothing. Kurt is so good at writing absurdly that I often miss the thesis (I had to google this one), but perhaps, now that I’m thinking about it, maybe I am proving his point… anyways I really enjoyed this from a chemists and scientists perspective too. Might have to come back for a second read one day!
“No wonder kids grow up crazy. A cat's cradle is nothing but a bunch of X's between somebody's hands, and little kids look and look and look at all those X's . . ."
"And?"
"No damn cat, and no damn cradle.

Vonnegut's works never cease to baffle, inspire, and leave me speechless. I read Cat's Crade for the first time about 8 years ago and it seems to only have become more relevant since then. I think if I think too much about this book I'll go crazy. Man got to tell himself he understand.

The book is definitely dated, but it makes a great commentary on the destructive nature of humans. It slows down towards the end, but wraps things up very well.
