While there were times where the story felt like it dragged a bit, the rest of it definitely makes up for it.

The majority of these warnings are covered by the fact the book deals with zombies and primarily black people in the 19th Century. ⁕ My favorite element of the book was the added narration of Katherine. It added a layer of depth to see the events of the story through multiple perspectives.
⁕ There’s a huge ellipsis of time in the middle of the book and most of it is never explained. Consequently, it feels like we miss out on significant moments of character development.
⁕ I was extremely disappointed in Justina’s use of harmful stereotypes when describing Asian immigrants.
