Es ist auf einer Art ein witziges Buch, auch wenn man anfänglich Probleme hat, die Protagonistin sympathisch zu finden. Mich hat es stark an das Essay ,,Bad Feminist" erinnert, denn das ist der innere Kampf den Tori unter anderem mit sich ausfßhrt.
Später fiebert man mit ihr mir und freut sich als sie sich von ihrem abusive Freund trennt!

Surrounded by proper adults ticking off things on their list of stereotypical milestones and stuck in an unfulfilled relationship, the protagonist of How Do You Like Me Now? ruminates over her life choices, as well as her career.
I can add this one to the list of books about privileged women ruminating over everyday struggles. Don't get me wrong, Bourne's writing is clever and palatable. I enjoyed the characters and found Tori to be quite likable, which can be refreshing, particularly in this sort of novel/genre. There were relatable passages throughout, particularly ones about relationships and their precarious nature, that I for one found to be true.
However, this might not be for everyone, or at least it's important to check your expectations before you do. This is a book about a white lady in her 30 who is a successful author and lives in London (and can actually afford it). Her main struggles, put more reductively, are guy trouble and worries about the (lack of) potential motherhood, what it means to have a career and the dangers of being single after long term relationships.
So, bare that in mind before plunging into this book. I for one enjoyed it and might seek out more of Bourne's.

Since this is and adult novel, something a bit more grown-up from my usual YA fiction, it gave me a chance to broaden my genre a bit again. It was easy to read and while i was kind of pushing myself to finish it in a week, it was super manageable and Im very happy. It was a great book, gvae a bit of insight into what a life in thirties might feel like. Of course i kept thinking "oh i wouldn't do that or think that or would have realised shit like that sooner", but of course I can also be a bit naive. Very enjoyable read and I wish there was a 2nd book, because I do want to know what the main character will do now.
